Honoring Galveston’s Maritime Legacy
Krewe of Thalasar paid tribute to the island’s deep-rooted seafaring history. Krewe President Matt Sweatt led a ceremonial wreath laying at the Texas Navy Monument on Pier 21, following a spirited Second Line brass band procession.
This inaugural tribute was part of the Port of Galveston’s 200th anniversary celebration and preceded the krewe’s annual Mardi Gras ball, Sirens and Sailors, held at Fisherman’s Wharf.
The day was a proud reminder of the island’s enduring maritime spirit and the people who continue to keep its legacy alive.
